There is what appears to be a male Reed Warbler singing his heart out in the reeds along the edge of Crenorne Gardens..no photo sadly as my camera isn't up to the job and he is small and well hidden! A few people (including yours truly) have now seen him and it is wonderful just to sit and listen to his song.
I do hope he finds a mate..we are doing our best to conserve and increase the amount of reeds to encourage varied wildlife just like this.

Democracy in Action
Just returned from the town meeting re the proposed developments of housing & employment land in Ellesmere & surrounding villages. Great to see so many people taking an active interest in their communities and voicing their opinions to our council ( and good to see the council taking them on board)
And boy..was there some voicing!!
If you weren't at the meeting, you will be able to read about it in the paper. Heartfelt opinions, put across strongly, with especial emphasis on the proposed development on land by the Mere...hopefully it will not now be carried on with.

Cuckoo
The old sayings still hold true....although today I had to trudge into the hills above Trevor & Llangollen to prove it.
"the cuckoo comes in April,
he sings his song in May,
in June he changes his tune,
in July he flies away..."
Today is May 2nd and I have heard the sweet call of a cuckoo for the first time this year...summer is on it's way!!!
