We have a new loving couple on the mere! Jordan (Leg Tag 7FDD) is the male and at long last he has found the swan of his dreams..she is Fip (Tag 7FIP). Fip is gentle and a bit shy, but Jordan has introduced her around and they are both busy entertaining visitors by The Boathouse.
It looks as if they are attempting to nest on a piece of land by the inlet by the restaurant...it would be great to see young signets so close but I am concerned that it is too close to the public. Oh well, I am sure they will decide for themselves. Do keep a friendly eye on them for me!

Merecat, I have been looking to contact as many people as possible who enjoy the mere and it looks like your organisation might be a good place to start.
I dont know if you are aware but there are plans afoot to develop the field which sits between the cemetery and the conservation area. Apparently this is a consultation but it doesn't seems to have been particularly well publicised!
We have created a web page to try to raise awareness and to encourage people to voice their opinions at http://saveourmere.blogspot.com and a facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-Our-Mere/323846647664967
If you feel you can support our campaign I would appreciate it if you could post a link and let your readers know what is planned for the mere park.
Regards
Kieron
Kieron - i have been told about the proposed development today..I suggest you contact the Friends of the Mere group officially. I will pass on your detais to them also.
