Still a young dog, this border collie has taken retirement and moved into Ellesmere after his owner gave up farming. Used to herding cattle, Ben likes to stay busy so has transferred his work ethic to his ball.

Ben is not interested in treats or cuddles..all he wants is to chase and return his ball. I am often busy working and will find  a yellow ball being dropped at my feet...on turning around, there is Ben looking hopeful.
Sadly, i do "throw like a girl" - and I kick worse! However, Ben is very patient with my feeble throwing attempts and the hearty kicks which result in the ball moving all of 18 inches. He picks it up and gently asks me to try again - and again - and again.
So if you are strolling through the park and a border collie with a yellow ball approaches you - do me a favour and give it a good hard throw for him!
